This quartet performs both original compositions by Jan De Haas and the band members, as well as standards ranging from Coltrane to Jobim. Jan arranges, directs, and plays vibes in a unique interplay with pianist Ivan Paduart. Lyrically and virtuosically. Supported by a legendary rhythm section: Sal La Rocca and Mimi Verderame. These masters of Belgian jazz sound (re)al, with beautiful harmonies and a homogeneous timbre. From Cool to Latin, always in a distinctive De Haas vibes version.

From a young age, Jan De Haas showed an interest in music, particularly percussion.
In 1979, he completed his education at the Music Academy and obtained his degree. He then continued his studies at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, where he earned a performance diploma in 1982 after three years.
During his time at Berklee, he accompanied American musicians such as Tony Dagradi, Phil Wilson, Dave Kikoski, Makoto Ozone, and many others.
In 1981, he became a professional musician and joined the Jazz Orchestra of the BRT under the direction of Etienne Verschuren. When he returned to the United States in 1982, he won first prize at the jazz contest of Jazz Hoeilaart.
Since then, he has continuously accompanied numerous Belgian and foreign jazz musicians, including Chet Baker, Toots Thielemans, Philip Catherine, Steve Houben, Richard Rousselet, Jacques Pelzer, Charles Loos, Michel Herr, Erwin Vann, Pirly Zurstrassen, Jack Van Poll, Eddie Daniels, Rick Margitza, Jerome Richardson, Nathalie Loriers, and the Fabrice Alleman Quartet (among others, including a concert with Randy Brecker).
In the 1990s and in 2020 (before the pandemic), he toured with his distinctive and inspiring trio
For the past 30 years, he has been part of the classic swing band "Swing Dealers."
He has contributed to various recordings with Guy Cabay, Paolo Radoni, Diederik Wissels, Jean-Pierre Gebler, J.R. Monterose, and Ali Ryeson.
Jan teaches at the Conservatory of Antwerp.
Jan has always led his own quartet-quintet, working as a vibraphonist and bandleader. See link and information below.

Jan de Haasinteresseerde zich op jonge leeftijd al voor muziek en vooral voor percussie.
In 1979 beëindigde hij zijn opleiding aan de Muziekacademie en behaalde er zijn degree.
Daarna vervolgde hij zijn opleiding aan het Berklee College of Music in Boston waar hij na drie jaar, in 1982, het performance diploma behaalde.
Hij begeleidde er Amerikaanse muzikanten zoals Tony Dagradi, Phil Wilson, Dave Kikoski, Makoto Ozone en nog vele anderen.
In 1981 werd hij professioneel muzikant en werd drummer in het Jazz orkest van de BRT onder leiding van Etienne Verschuren.
